2. Select Your Pet's Path

Pets are all individuals, just like their owners, so we offer multiple options to meet your pet, and your family, where you are. We offer tiered service options to meet the needs of private owners, fosters, rescues and anyone in between who is seeking veterinary behavior care.

  • Behavior Triage: Not sure who needs to be seen in a multi-pet household or if a consultation is right for you?  This appointment reviews safety, prevention, management techniques for your concern and can help answer those questions. Offered as a virtual or in person appointment.
  • Behavior Intake: For those seeking diagnosis & treatment information about targeted concerns. This is an in person appointment.
  • Behavior Assessment Consultation: This is full veterinary behavior consultation that includes behavior modification.  This is an in person appointment.
  • Comprehensive Behavior Consultation: A full veterinary behavior consultation with all the bells and whistles to make the most out of our knowledge & experience. This is an in person appointment.
  • Additional Pet? No problem, our team can provide you with the information about appointment length and costs to see both pets.

              Before Your Appointment:

  • Complete and return your history form. We want to know as much as we can about your pet before we meet them. Please complete your pet's history form in full.
  • Contact your pet insurance company BEFORE your consult to ensure coverage & identify pre-existing conditions. You are responsible for all insurance claims.
  • Review your welcome email. This contains information about your appointment and scheduling related policies.
  • Video: If you are able to safely obtain video of the problem behavior without causing harm to your pet, yourself, other animals or humans, you are welcome to submit it.
  • Medical Records: As a specialty referral clinic, we will contact your veterinary clinic for medical records prior to all appointments at TBC. To provide continuity of care, we will automatically send our records and lab testing results back to your veterinary clinic.

3. Create a Plan

After reviewing your pet's history form, observing and examining your pet (if your pet permits us to perform one safely), the veterinarian will make medical and behavioral recommendations based on your pet's diagnoses. We will provide you with handouts and a summary of the treatment plan by email.

Your pet's treatment plan may include supplements, prescription medication, follow up appointments, lab testing, and behavioral therapy sessions. These items are an additional cost unless specified in your selected plan. Successful outcomes require ongoing monitoring and adjustments to the treatment plan which are accomplished through follow up appointments. We do not prescribe punishment (i.e., shock collars, prong collars, correction based training) to modify behavior.

4. Follow Your Pet’s Progress

The BEST way for us to help your pet, is to see them frequently!

  • Progress Evaluations with the doctor are recommended every 1-3 months until the problem behaviors are stable and twice yearly thereafter.
  • Behavior Therapy (training) Appointments are recommended every 2-3 weeks at a minimum and can be virtual or in person.
  • Lab testing is recommended prior to starting treatment and  throughout the treatment process.  This keeps us on top of any changes to your pet's internal health that could impact their behavior!
  • Maintain your pet's medications, supplements, or other items through our clinic's on site pharmacy or through one of our supporting online pharmacies.
