Our Process

Are you ready to begin your pet’s journey toward health and positive behaviors? Our comprehensive behavior therapy plan will give you the confidence to get started today!

1. Tell Us What’s Happening
with Your Pet

Call or email us to describe what challenges you are currently facing with your pet. Our team is happy to answer any questions you may have about care.  Please read through the "our process" page before using this online form to make sure we are the right fit for you and your family.

Not sure if your pet’s behavior is significant enough? If you are concerned enough to ask about your pet’s problem, it is worth talking to a professional for input. We do more than just treat problem behavior!  Our customer care team can review all the options we offer to help your pet including private training and group classes at our Pet Education Center.

2. Start On the Path to Behavioral Wellness

Pre-Consultation Appointments Via Telemedicine (or In Person)

Pre-Consultation appointments provide steps to establish safety, prevention, and management techniques specific to your situation, before you meet with the veterinary behaviorist.  The cost of the Pre-Consultation appointment is $140 (this cost does NOT include additional products, services, or appointments).  These are very helpful appointments that allow you to implement techniques, training, and tools to get a paw up on the treatment process!

When you call to schedule your pet's consultation, our team will review options for a telemedicine appointment or an in person appointment. For pets who do not like travel, aggression between pets, cats or exotics, a telemedicine appointment is advised. If you have multiple pets and you are not sure which one needs the Doctor, schedule a Pre-Consultation! Our team will review your concerns, ask questions and work with you to decide who should come.

Complete Your History Form

We want to know as much as we can about your pet before we meet them. Please complete your pet's history form in full.  If you are able to safely obtain video of the problem behavior without causing harm to your pet, yourself, other animals or humans, you are welcome to submit it.

As a specialty referral clinic, we will contact your veterinary clinic for medical records prior to all appointments at TBC. To provide continuity of care, we will send our records and lab testing results back to your veterinary clinic.

Please review the Welcome Email for specific information about your appointment and scheduling related policies.

Using Pet Insurance?  Contact your insurance company BEFORE your consult to ensure coverage identify pre-existing conditions. You are responsible for all insurance claims and processing.

3. Develop a Plan

After reviewing your pet's history form, observing and examining your pet (if your pet permits us to perform one safely), our veterinarian will make medical and behavioral recommendations based on your pet's diagnoses. We will provide you with handouts and a detailed summary of the treatment plan by email.

Note: The consultation cost is $800. Your pet's treatment plan may include supplements, prescription medication, follow up appointments, lab testing and behavioral therapy sessions. These items are NOT included in the consultation fee. For budgeting purposes please know the average total appointment cost is between $900 and $1400.  Successful outcomes require ongoing monitoring and adjustments to the treatment plan which are accomplished through follow up appointments. We do not prescribe punishment (i.e., shock collars, prong collars, correction based training) to modify behavior.

4. Follow Your Pet’s Progress

Our team provides support by email & text after your appointment, however, the BEST way for us to help your pet, is to see them frequently in Progress Evaluations or Behavior Therapy (training) appointments.  Progress Evaluations with the veterinary behaviorist are recommended every 1-3 months until the problem behaviors are stable and  twice yearly evaluations thereafter. The cost of a Progress Evaluation is  $295-385 + any additional products or services.

Behavior Therapy (training) Appointments with our team are part of successful treatment. From muzzle & carrier training, to learning that dogs/cats/people aren't scary, we have a lot of experience helping pets & their families learn new skills to specific to their concerns. The cost for a Behavior Therapy Appointment is $140/hr. These can be broken into 15 or 30 minute increments to help you and your pet work with us more frequently in person or virtually.
